Wedding of Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, and Catherine Middleton held on Friday, April 29, 2011 at Westminster Abbey in London. Prince William, second heir to the throne of Queen Elizabeth II, first met Catherine Middleton in 2011, when his education at the University of St Andrews. They became engaged on October 20, 2010 and recently announced on 16 November 2010.

Events leading up to the wedding and the wedding itself attracted much attention from the media. Their wedding was broadcast live around the world and compared with parents’ marriage William, Prince Charles and Princess Diana Spencer in 1981. Approximately two billion people watched the wedding all over the world. 24.5 million people watched in the United Kingdom.

Most of the attention focused on Middleton status as an ordinary person (not a descendant of the royal family or a part of the aristocracy) who married a member of the royal family. A few hours before the wedding procession began, the Queen bestowed the title Duke of Cambridge, Earl of Strathearn and Baron Carrickfergus to William. Before her marriage, Middleton becomes Her Royal Highness automatically Duchess of Cambridge, not ‘Princess Catherine’.

Because William is not heir to the throne immediately, marriage is not a full state occasion and many details of the event as determined by the couple themselves, such as a set number of guests reached 1,900 people. The wedding day is a public holiday in the United Kingdom and featured many ceremonial elements, including the royal chariot, Foot Guards and Household Cavalry.

The ceremony was attended by most of the royal family and other foreign kings, ambassadors, and personal guests chosen by the couple.
Middleton wore a white dress along the 270-centimeter (110 in) the work of British designer Sarah Burton and a tiara lent by the Queen. Prince William wore the uniform of honor Colonel Irish Guards.

The best man was his brother William, Prince Harry, while Pippa Middleton, Catherine’s sister, served as maid of honor women. The wedding ceremony began at 11:00 am BST. John Robert Hall, the Dean of Westminster, opened the ceremony with Rowan Williams, the Archbishop of Canterbury, who led the ceremony and Richard Chartres, Bishop of London, who gave a speech after the ceremony.

The reading of the speech made by sister Catherine, James Middleton. After the ceremony, the newly married couple followed the procession to Buckingham Palace to stand on the balcony of the palace and received the honor of flying the tradition before the people assembled in The Mall. Later the Prince drove the Aston Martin DB6 Volante father’s classic with Catherine into Clarence House. Vehicles are decorated by Prince Harry and James Middleton with a license plate “JUST WED”.
